What: Pro Bono Law Ontario Food Truck Festival
Where: Evergreen Brick Works, Koerner Gardens and the Holcim Gallery, 550 Bayview Avenue
When: September 19, 2013

Koerner Gardens & the Holcim Gallery at the Brick Works was an ideal location for this fabulous food truck feast! Live “lawyer bands” kept guests entertained as they discovered what each truck had to offer in addition to the delicious passed hors d’oeuvres by the Food Dudes.

According to Yonit Fuhrmann, the event organizer and deputy director at Pro Bono Law Ontario: “When you are entirely funded by private sources like the Law Foundation of Ontario and the Law Society of Upper Canada you have to be proactive and creative about raising funds and raising profile. The Food Truck Festival was our first-ever fundraising event, and we could not have been more grateful for the response. The legal profession clearly understands that pro bono is a professional obligation. We had a great group of volunteers who rounded up corporate sponsors, sold tickets to their friends and peers and came out to support us. People who couldn’t make it donated funds instead or donated tickets so our law student volunteers could come.”

This inaugural event was made possible through the generous support of corporate sponsors: Duff & Phelps, Integris Real Estate Counsellors, Neeson & Associates, NagataConnex, Cognition, Commonwealth Legal, Deloitte, Evergreen Brick Works, Howie Sacks & Henry, KPMG, NERA Economic Consulting, Norton Rose Fulbright Canada, Platinum Legal Group, PwC Canada and Beau’s Beer. Fuhrmann says, “We could not have had this event without them.” For more information or to volunteer with Pro Bono Law Ontario, click here.
