Bay Street Summer Job Numbers

Since 2008, Precedent has tracked the number of second-year students that Toronto law firms have hired in the fall for the upcoming summer.

In the interactive chart below, we’ve ranked the firms that have historically taken on the largest crop of students. When you toggle between the past 18 years, the chart will show the current year in bold alongside the three previous years. You can also sort the data in each column. And if you click on any firm, you’ll see its historical data.

Below the chart, we’ve outlined how we have handled law-firm mergers over the years.

The 2025 Summer Job Watch is now complete. In the coming weeks, we’ll update the chart below as firms continue to report their numbers. To make sure you stay in the know, follow us on LinkedIn and subscribe to Precedent’s flagship newsletter.
