Magazine award season has come to a close, and Precedent has reason to celebrate.

At this year’s National Magazine Awards, senior editor Daniel Fish took home the gold medal for Professional Article for his exclusive deep-dive into former attorney general Michael Bryant’s controversial career. The judges said the piece was “executed with utmost care in its style and structure. The writer was wise to take a patient approach with such a weighty subject, and the result is a powerful impact that must have left Precedent’s readers thrilled.”

And next, at the annual awards gala put on by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors, editor-in-chief Melissa Kluger won the grand prize: Editor of the Year. Precedent won a slew of other awards that night, including Trade Magazine of the Year and (in a tie with Cottage Life) the Jim Cormier Award for Display Writing.

Without the support of our advertisers and the terrific work of our team members — designers, writers, illustrators, photographers, fact-checkers and editors — none of this would be possible.
