After an eight week drug trial in Florida, the federal judge hearing the case has been forced to declare a mistrial after discovering that nine jurors were doing research about the case on the internet.

The New York Times reports that the use of BlackBerrys and iPhones by jurors is wreaking havoc on trials. There have been calls for mistrials in a number of recent cases where jurors have posted updates of cases on Twitter and Facebook.
