In advance of World AIDS Day on December 1, the organizers of Give a Day hosted Hot Talks at Markham Theatre last Thursday.

Speakers at this fundraising event included the inspiring Stephen Lewis, chair of the Stephen Lewis Foundation and former Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa and Dr. Jeff Turnbull, Chief of Staff at the Ottawa Hospital and Medical Director of the Ottawa Inner City Health Project.

The evening was hosted by Dr. Jane Philpott, the founder of Give a Day to World AIDS, which encourages professionals to donate one day’s pay to the cause and was rounded out by the beautiful beats of Madagascar Slim and Soul Influence. All money raised through Give a Day will go directly to the Stephen Lewis Foundation and Dignitas International, who are striving to alleviate the suffering of those afflicted by AIDS while supporting communities to develop long term care and prevention strategies.
