It’s at times like these that I am thankful that I write anonymously. Why? Because today I’m going to discuss certain articles of clothing that I purchased at Zellers. Yes, that Zellers. No, “Zellers” isn’t also coincidentally the name of some hip new European label. It is the Zellers of your youth, with the “restaurant” that your grandmother may have taken you to for a club sandwich and Jell-o. It’s the Zellers that carries the Kathie Lee line and plastic running shoes.
But let me explain. I was only attracted to Zellers for the purpose of purchasing on-sale diapers. But then, as I was making my way to the cashier, I was taken in by the affordable, stylish goods, looking much like knock-offs of items I purchase from more high-end stores for a much higher price.
Case in-point: They’ve got racks and racks of sporty yoga wear called “SportTek” that looks a lot like Lululemon. And if it wasn’t cheap to begin with (which it was), the racks come with signs screaming “25 percent off!”
And so I took advantage of the situation. I bought a very cool light purple yoga jacket – fitted with cute seaming. Grey yoga pants with purple piping, and a black yoga t-shirt. Every item came in under $20, even before the 25 percent discount.
I’m a surprised as you are to be saying this, but isn’t it time you shopped at Zellers?
Fashion Alert: A note for men seeking something a little more high-end. Harry Rosen is having a “Made to Measure Sale”. For the month of February you can have a suit made just for you starting from $895. Jell-o and club sandwich not included.
