One of you needs to buy this dress. Because I can’t, and dammit, someone is going to be fashionable this holiday season!
This is the dress of the season. It may not look like much, but it is and it will be. Trust me. This little burgundy number (it only comes in the one colour plaid) is THE dress.
I have thus far seen this dress in no fewer than four high-brow fashion magazines. Including Elle – and if Nina Garcia tells you to wear this, you hightail your ass to the store and buy it.
It has a very Roland Mouret-quality to it. Tailored, reminiscent of the 1940s. This look is very flattering on most figures when it fits properly.
Despite all it’s great press, Banana Republic has it quietly tucked away on its website. It isn’t even in the windows of its stores.
They don’t make it in maternity, and I won’t have anywhere to wear it in the weeks following my child’s birth when I am home and haemorrhoid bound (so they tell me).
You must buy it. You must buy it and wear it and send me a photo so I can live vicariously through you and shriek with glee at the fabulousness that is you in this dress.
You will wear it with opaque tights and some pointy black patent leather shoes. A delicate necklace – gold with a small charm, perhaps. No earrings.
A small clutch purse. No wrap, no cardigan, nothing else.
It should hit you just above the knee or just below. Have it altered if it cuts your knee in half or goes further than one inch below your knee. If below the knee, make the heels higher than usual.
Wear it to a work Christmas party, or any Christmas party.
Please – make a pregnant lady’s day and buy this dress and wear it. You won’t regret it.
