Marie Heinen has taken over as president of the Advocates’ Society.
A prominent Toronto litigator who recently represented Michael Bryant, Heinen will focus on technology and outreach to younger lawyers as key planks in her presidential term [PDF]. She aims to bolster the Advocates’ Society website with practice-based and regional forums to increase interaction, and utilize the Young Advocates to reach out to newly called lawyers.
Heinen also announced the fundraising program The Advocates’ Society Gives Back, which will raise money to support Frontiers Foundation — an organization assisting economically and socially disadvantaged communities.
Executive officers joining Heinen for the 2010-2011 term are First Vice President Mark D. Lerner (Lerners), Second Vice President Peter H. Griffin (Lenczner Slaght), Treasurer Alan H. Mark (Ogilvy) and Secretary Robert B. Bell (BLG).
