Macleod Dixon and Norton Rose OR announced Tuesday they will be merging in the new year to form the third largest law firm in Canada.
Effective January 1, 2012, the merged practice will become Norton Rose Canada, with approximately 700 lawyers across Canada and more than 60 lawyers in Latin America.
Norton Rose Canada will have offices in Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Quebec City, as well as in Caracas and Bogota.
The merger will “significantly increase” Norton Rose Canada’s resources in the energy and infrastructure and mining and commodities sectors, the firm said in a news release.
John Coleman will continue as managing partner of Norton Rose Canada. Bill Tuer, managing partner of Macleod Dixon, will join the executive committee of Norton Rose Canada.
