On September 1, Kevin Carroll, Q.C., takes over as president of the Canadian Bar Association.
A long-time member of the CBA, Carroll has pledged to advocate on behalf of his members on matters like obtaining EI and parental leave for self-employed lawyers and the controversial disparity in fees paid by the provincial governments for legal aid services.
Carroll’s extensive experience and overflowing Rolodex make him an ideal person to lead the national advocacy organization. He also served as Ontario Bar Association president from 1993 to 1994.
An insurance litigation specialist, Carroll is the senior partner of the Barrie-based firm Carroll Heyd Chown.
