What: ‘Getting to the Top’ – Women’s Networking Series
Where: Baker & McKenzie LLP, Toronto
When: Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Cocktails and wine, a generous spread of food and a healthy dose of estrogen-infused inspiration were on the agenda at Baker & McKenzie’s “Getting to the Top” panel discussion Wednesday night, part of the firm’s ongoing Women’s Networking series.

About 75 female professionals gathered post-work to hear three accomplished women discuss the long and winding path they took to becoming leaders of their respective professions.

The invited panelists were Dona Eull-Schultz, president and portfolio manager with Leon Frazer & Associates; Dianne Lister (pictured right), a former lawyer and currently the president and executive director of the Royal Ontario Museum Governors; and Elizabeth Mills, president and CEO of Workplace Safety & Prevention Services.

The trio shared personal and professional stories; all three women confessed that their mothers still don’t quite understand what exactly it is they do for a living.

Their main message? Success comes through being courageous, believing in your own abilities and pursuing work you’re genuinely passionate about. It also requires a willingness to take risks. Mentoring and professional coaching were also highly encouraged.
