At the beginning of March, close to 70 people gathered at the office of McLeish Orlando LLP to kick off spring early while supporting Dress for Success Toronto. Jointly organized by McLeish Orlando and the Women’s Law Association of Ontario (WLAO), the event—called “A Sweet Success”—brought together lawyers for an evening for networking and mentorship. Attendees were encouraged to bring either a gently used piece of clothing or a monetary donation for Dress for Success Toronto, a non-profit that provides professional clothing and support to women seeking employment opportunities.
“This event is very special for the WLAO because it is an opportunity for lawyers to give back to the broader community that we live and work in,” says Jocelyn Tatebe, the president of the WLAO. “I am incredibly proud of this event, which is empowering more women to achieve economic independence.”
As an intentional play on the sweet-success theme, the gathering featured an onsite chocolatier. Meanwhile, a selection of flowers—including daffodils, ranunculus and fresh eucalyptus—injected some spring life into the late-winter event.
“We are proud to partner with the WLAO in bringing together our colleagues for a fun evening and supporting such a worthy cause,” says Lindsay Charles, a partner at McLeish Orlando. “Giving back to the community is important to McLeish Orlando—and being able to have fun while doing it makes it extra special.”
