The 3rd Annual TGF Chili Cook-Off

TGF's annual event serves up chili for a good cause

TGF Chili Cookoff - Fundraiser for MS Society of Canada/p>

What: Thornton Grout Finnigan LLP, Chili Cook-Off in support of the MS Society of Canada
Where: Archeo, 31 Trinity St. Distillery District
When: March 27, 2014

So much chili, and for such a good cause! Tables with over a dozen large pots of the stuff lined the outer walls of the lovely Archeo restaurant – the deliciously spicy scent enveloped the space and greeted guests as they arrived. ‘Chili Bucks,’ available for purchase at the door, could be exchanged for samples of the various home recipes of this classically fiery stew. Though most were served up in tiny plastic bowls, one group went all out in an attempt to please the judges by using edible bread bowls from a local Distillery District bakery.

“This event was started as a way of providing our clients and colleagues with a casual alternative to the more formal events we are accustomed to in our industry, while also raising money and awareness for a very good cause” said TGF associates Danny M. Nunes and Kyle B. Plunkett. “Mixing business with pleasure provided a great opportunity for TGF to raise money for the MS Society of Canada, a cause particularly close to us, as both Danny and I have close family members living with MS.”

Owen Charters, the chief marketing & development officer at the MS Society of Canada added: “What a fantastic event! Great food, great crowd, and $10,000 raised for the MS Society – thanks so much to everyone involved”.

Beer was the pairing of choice to counter the burn, and though there were definitely some people breaking a sweat, most appeared to take the heat in stride. It was obvious too from the diligent work of the judges that they were taking their job quite seriously. Yet any event with a ladle and bottle of Pepto as the trophy is sure to be fun!
