About Precedent
Precedent is an independent, award-winning Toronto-based magazine for young lawyers owned by Law and Style Media Inc. The quarterly lifestyle magazine is sent to over 15,000 lawyers and law students in Ontario and the annual Student Issue is distributed at law schools across the country. In addition to the print magazine, Precedent is online at lawandstyle.ca.
Law and Style Media Inc. also operates the Precedent A-List (a-list.lawandstyle.ca) – a website for career announcements and job opportunities exclusively for lawyers.
Researcher
Precedent is currently seeking a researcher to join our sales and marketing team for approximately one month on a full-time basis to assist with a database development project. We are looking for someone who is resourceful, proactive and detail-oriented to help us expand and develop our sales database. This will involve research in the legal environment as well as lifestyle categories such as auto, fashion and personal finance.
Since this is a fairly short project, you will need to be ready to jump right in and get up to speed quickly. The position will include online research, cold calling and introductory emails.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in the sales and marketing operations at a growing independent media company, and could potentially lead to future opportunities with Precedent.
Skills & Qualifications
- An undergraduate or post-graduate degree or certificate in marketing, sales or journalism or equivalent work experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong research skills
- Superior communication skills
- Self-motivated, reliable and diligent
- Friendly, positive and outgoing personality
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
- Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software would be an asset
Rate
- $600/week
Commitment
- This is a one-month, full-time position. Work will be conducted at the Precedent office during regular office hours from Monday to Friday during the month of October 2014.
Location
- The Precedent office is located in downtown Toronto near King and Parliament.
