As of 2:30 p.m. roughly 40 homeless and likely very hungry Torontonians were lined up outside Osgoode Hall, reports a handy Precedent insider. Those of you who saw the front page of the Globe today will know that these folks are waiting for their cut of filet mignon, the main course on tonight’s menu for the Lawyers Feed the Hungry first charity Christmas dinner. The $2600 worth of meat comes from a St. Lawrence Market butcher and will be served by Ontario Chief Justice Warren Winkler. Guests to Osgoode’s arches will also walk away with $10 each – a token from LFTH founder Martin Teplitsky, who will be arriving at the event with $6000 cash in $10 bills. Teplitsky told the Globe, “For people who have nothing, just having 10 bucks to buy cigarettes or a bottle of wine. … They’re very grateful.”
