“I don’t chase ambulances, and it isn’t just about the money.”

That’s Paul Sweeny, the new president of the Ontario Bar Association, introducing himself to his OBA colleagues in the form of a tongue-in-cheek hybrid video/slideshow posted to the OBA’s website.

The video, titled “The Rant,” opens by poking fun at lawyer stereotypes. “I really do have a sense of humour,” Sweeny says, “and I can handle the truth!” The message then shifts in tone to an inspirational message (backed by the famous melody from Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March #1) about his connections to his profession and his community and the values that motivate him and his fellow OBA/CBA members.
