A Los Angeles law firm got in on the post-Thanksgiving “Cyber Monday” action, offering alleged drunk drivers a “$99 DUI Defense Sale.”

“The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the biggest drinking day of the year for Americans,” L.A. criminal attorney Matthew Spiegel, head of SLG Criminal Law Group, noted in a news release Monday. “There are more DUI checkpoints around the holidays, and as a result there’s an influx of people being accused of driving under the influence … we thought it would make sense to offer a deal like e-tailers do.”

In an effort to “get into the holiday spirit,” the firm says on its blog, it decided to offer a $99 DUI defense “to the first three people who call our offices and mention the Cyber Monday sale. As experienced DUI lawyers, we normally charge between $7,500-$10,000 for this type of representation.”

Spiegel boasts he has represented drivers in “more than 400 DUI cases.”

The Cyber Monday offer is “good for misdemeanour DUIs only,” SLG cautions, and does not include the trial costs. “Drivers whose charges involve personal injury, property damage, reckless endangerment and other special circumstances are not eligible for the promotion, nor are drivers who have had multiple DUI convictions in the past.”
