The expansion of small-claims court, which we talked about when the Osborne report came out late last year, means that many more Ontarians could soon find themselves centre stage in a courtoom. Most of them won’t have clue one about what to do once they’re there. The Alberta branch of the Canadian Bar Association has produced a 25 minute video for these courtroom newbies, covering what they need to do, how to address the court, how to call witnesses, and all that jazz. The Toronto Star thinks this is a capital idea, and we agree — although few reading this blog will find anything “groundbreaking” about the information here, as The Star does, and the public-access-cable production values won’t win anyone any Genie awards.
The video is available for direct download as a Windows Media file straight from the CBA; someone also helpfully uploaded it to Google Video so you can watch it right away.
