Got iPad? People in the legal world (including here at Precedent) are increasingly adopting the tablet device, and finding it has many useful professional applications.
An article in the latest edition of Lawyers Weekly quotes a few lawyers (all of them American) on how the most practical functions of their iPads make their jobs easier. Apple’s latest must-have product gets top marks for its email interface, and its ability to display documents at greater dimensions than other similar devices, like the Kindle. It still falls short of a computer in several areas — including linking to a printer or a network server.
But, as one of the lawyers in the Lawyers Weekly piece admits, the iPad is basically a “useful toy” — an opinion supported by Slaw blogger Ted Tjaden, who put off writing about the device’s legal applications recently in favour of listing his favourite “fun stuff.”
What’s the iPad’s potential for lawyers? What changes would Apple be wise to make if they want more professionals to adopt it as their mobile computing device? Leave a comment and let us know what you think.
