The Post disses Blakes for no good reason

An invitation sent out to one writer didn't take it too kindly

Blakes invitationLast week, Blakes extended a lovely invitation to me to attend a “Celebration of Summer” event. The event, to be held at the Design Exchange, will pay tribute to the warmer months with a summer fashion show and tips on gardening and backyard entertaining. I signed up and am looking forward to it. Thought it was nice to be invited.

For some reason, this nice gesture of summertime fun really pissed off Carrie Tait at the National Post. Her rant on the Legal Post blog reveals not only that she doesn’t like the colour of the invite, but that she also feels like fashion and gardening are not acceptable ways for women to network in this day and age (read full hysterical rant here).

What Carrie just doesn’t get is that it’s okay to be a hard-assed businesswoman who also likes to garden. Honest. I do it all the time. And aren’t we beyond demanding that women look and act like men to be successful? My legal community has room for smart, powerful women who wear great heels and like planting perennials (though maybe not at the same time). Get over it.
