What: First Annual Gala of the Iranian Legal Professionals of Ontario
Where: The Courthouse, 57 Adelaide St. East.
When: October 24, 2013
The Courthouse, a fantastic event venue, was perfectly suited to the first annual Gala of the Iranian Legal Professionals of Ontario. Still a relatively young organization, the ILPO launched in October of 2011 to build not only a bridge between their members and the broader Iranian community, but also to build connections between legal professionals of Iranian descent and the legal community in the province.
“In just two years, our membership has grown to over 300 legal professionals in the province of Ontario and our records show that there are over 40 law students of Iranian descent currently enrolled in Ontario’s six law schools. As part of our efforts to expand this network, we have supported and assisted with the establishment of Iranian law students’ associations in Ontario’s law schools.“ said ILPO Public Relations Chair and one of the founding members of the organization, Behrouz Amouzgar.
Beautifully complimenting the fabulous looking buffet-style dinner & deserts, guests of the sold out 180 person gala were treated to a live jazz performance by Canadian singer, Genie nominated actress and radio personality Terra Hazelton and her band. In attendance were legal professionals of Iranian descent, prominent members of the Iranian community, representatives from numerous non-profit organizations, law firms and legal associations as well as representatives from the Law Society of Upper Canada.
