Peter Brauti (Brauti Thorning Zibarras LLP) is not the only lawyer who enjoys a great bottle of wine and a perfectly grilled steak. Few lawyers, however, do so in the comfort of their own restaurant. Make that restaurants. In addition to his high-profile litigation practice, he has a stake in eight popular bars and bistros in downtown Toronto.
Brauti got into the restaurant scene a few years ago after doing some liquour licence work for a client who then suggested they become business partners. They opened the popular Brant House on King West soon after. Other hotspots in Brauti’s portfolio include Leslieville’s Joy Bistro and Maro in Liberty Village.
After Brauti finishes a busy day in court, he typically dines at one of his restaurants. “It gives me the opportunity to assess the business while socializing and enjoying myself,” he says.
“I probably eat and drink better than anybody in the city.”
