Richard Susskind, author of the book The End of Lawyers?, will speak at this year’s Law Firm Leadership Conference, November 16 and 17 at the Park Hyatt in Toronto.

Registrations are now being taken for this fifth annual edition of the conference, hosted by the Canadian Bar Association. The theme this year is Change Management – hence Susskind’s participation. His talk will centre on “‘Transformation, change, or business as usual – the future of law firms.”

In The End of Lawyers?, Susskind takes a critical look at time management and the adoption of new technology in the legal profession. He warns that dire times are ahead for lawyers unwilling to adapt to a changing world and embrace emerging tech as a faster, cheaper, and potentially better resource for completing tasks and serving clients.

The conference’s keynote speaker will be Bruce MacEwen, President of Adam Smith Esq. LLC in New York. MacEwen will explore and analyze “Law Firms After the Great Economic Reset.” In addition, there will be panel discussions on topics like internal change management and win-win relationships between firms and clients, plus a Monday-night gala schmooze.

The attractive list of speakers — particularly Susskind, who’s also speaking next week at the CBA Canadian Legal Conference in Dublin — is likely to make this a hot-ticket item, so it’s a good idea to register early. A PDF registration form is available on the CBA website.
