Women who leave law to raise children face serious hurdles if they want to return to practice, according to a weekend article in the Globe and Mail. Ours is a profession that has trouble retaining women and even more trouble finding a place for them when they are interested in coming back. The article cites various initiatives that are underway in Ontario to improve the situation – Law Society undertakings we have reported on in the past, as well as a program at U of T designed to help women transition back into the legal workforce.
