Toronto employment law firm Mathews Dinsdale is being sued for wrongful dismissal by Adrian Jakibchuk, a former associate. Jakibchuk was one of two co-defendants in the $2.3 million defamation suit by then–firm partner David Cowling, who sued over allegations of inappropriate behaviour at a firm event.

Jakibchuk is seeking $1.3 million for what his statement of claim calls a “hostile and poisoned work environment” that developed after he was served with Cowling’s suit in March 2010. He left the firm two months later.

Cowling has since resigned from the partnership at Mathews Dinsdale. Jakibchuk, after a period of unemployment, was hired by Sherrard Kuzz.
