The Globe ran a nice obit of Réjane Laberge-Colas, Canada’s first female Superior Court judge. It reads, in part:
Whether it was getting the top marks in her 1952 Quebec bar class, being the founding president in 1966 of the Quebec Women’s Federation or, three years later, becoming the first woman in all of Canada to be appointed to one of the country’s Superior Courts, her journey was inspirational – not only because of her professional achievements but also because she was able to seamlessly marry the roles of wife and mother with those of lawyer, judge and extremely polite activist.
Laberge-Colas died in Magog, Quebec on August 9, after suffering a stroke. She was 85.
