Wake me up when it’s over

The cruise wear will transition to different seasons over several years

There’s nothing like kicking off the new year with the sight of neighbouring office workers carrying boxes of their belongings out onto the street. Oh sweet 2009. I imagine that for most of you, the majority of the week was spent doing what you always do after the holidays – planning your next vacation. What better tonic to combat the January blues than some therapeutic daydreaming? Of course those daydreams are filled with you looking incredible in a seriously well-planned holiday wardrobe.

You may not have realized, but resort/cruise ’09 collections are already in stores. Why are they called cruise collections, you might ask? Even though there is arguably not a whole lot of fashion going on onboard cruise ships, a resort/cruise collection is a pre-collection to spring/summer that is supposed to provide a seamless transition between seasons. Yes, that would be the glittering and shiny section of Holt Renfrew that is unfortunately not on sale. Not to fret, however, last year’s maxi-length dresses and gladiator-esque sandals still work for vacation-wear. It’s a good thing that the relaxed beachy look (even beach jewellery) stays relatively fashionable over the years. This year, I might update your vacation style and add a shrunken jean jacket or a new vacation handbag to the mix.
