A lawsuit filed by Canadian collector Richard LaPointe against celebrity memorabilia auctioneer Julien’s Auctions has been thrown out of Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to a release by the auction house, LaPointe’s attorney, Nicholas Hornberger, claimed $126 million in damages after Julien’s cancelled an auction of Jackson memorabilia in which LaPointe bid $6,500 for 14 items.
Said Julien’s Auctions President Darren Julien in a statement: “It is opportunists like Mr. Richard LaPointe and his attorney Nicholas Hornberger that fill up our courts and the valuable time of our judges with frivolous and malicious lawsuits against individuals and companies who work hard to make an honest living.”
