A team of lawyers from Osler crossed the finish line first among Lawyers’ Cup participants in the 2012 Oxfam Trailwalker.
A half dozen law firms formed teams to participate in this year’s Trailwalker, and Team Osler: We Could (But Won’t) Walk 500 Miles finished first among them — and a very impressive 9th among all participants in the event, which featured more than 80 teams overall. (The Lawyers’ Cup is a friendly fundraising competition within the larger Trailwalker event.)
The Osler group completed the gruelling, 100-kilometre hike in a time of 28 hours and 40 minutes, well within the 48-hour limit. The team has also raised more than $3,500 in support of Oxfam’s women’s rights campaigns. So far, Fogler Rubinoff’s team is leading the Lawyers’ Cup competition with more than $10,000 in pledges.
The Blakes Walk in the Park team, who wrote three blog posts for Precedent about their training and participation in Trailwalker, finished fifth among law firm teams in the race.
Here’s a full 2012 results list for law firm teams who participated in the 2012 Oxfam Trailwalker. It’s not too late to donate to any of the participating teams — links to their donation pages follow each entry.

* = Although the Fogler Rubinoff team’s time is better than that of the team above them in the ranking (Palaire Roland), they are ranked lower because fewer of their team members were able to complete the entire course. (It’s also worth noting that relatively few of the 80+ Trailwalker teams finished as a complete foursome. This speaks to the extreme difficulty of this amazing event.)
Note: An earlier version of this post credited Osler as the “winner” of the Lawyers’ Cup. The post has been edited to reflect the fact that the team with the highest fundraising total, not the first team across the finish line, is the one who earns the Lawyers’ Cup title.
