Our magazine takes home two silvers and a gold at the annual business press awards

Once a year, magazine makers from across the country get together to celebrate the achievements of Canada’s business press. It’s a wonderful evening of catching up with colleagues and meeting fellow publishers, editors and artists from other trade and professional magazines. It’s nice to get together, but I must admit it’s also a big thrill to win a few awards.

I am so pleased to announce that tonight Precedent won silver in two categories: Best Cover and Best Art Direction of a Complete Issue. Both silvers are for our Summer 2012 issue featuring our Precedent Setter Award winners. Congratulations to the talented design team at Hambly and Woolley and to our amazing photographer Daniel Ehrenworth who shot the cover and the Precedent Setter Awards feature.

And our gold win is for Website of the Year. We relaunched our website in 2012. It had been cutting-edge when we first launched Precedent in 2007, but over time it showed its age and it was time for something new. It was a huge task and I owe a great thanks to Johnathan Kochis and his team at ResolutionIM for helping dream up the site and then for having the skills and patience to actually implement that dream. Thank you also to Associate Editor Christina Cheung and to so many talented contributors who helped create and care for the content on our site: Melanie Dziengo, Todd Harrison, Rose Hendrie, Andrew Soutar and Melissa Wilson. And a big thank you to all our amazing columnists who keep our site filled with wonderful content.

What a pleasure to work with so many talented and creative people. Thank you.
