Now in it’s 7th year, the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) Awards Gala has grown into a tremendously popular annual event. This year’s 300 or so guests, attending from across the province, included lawyers, academics, students and members of the judiciary. A cocktail reception and extensive silent auction (benefiting the South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario) kicked-off the evening, followed by a dinner and awards ceremony which included a keynote speech by Rahul Bhardwaj, President & CEO of the Toronto Community Foundation.

“SABA’s annual gala is the organization’s largest and highest profile event of the year. The purpose of the event is to celebrate and recognize the success of outstanding contributions to the legal profession by individuals of South Asian decent. It is primarily through the support of our sponsors that the gala and, in fact, the organization, has been able to grow.“ Rishi Bandhu, President, SABA Toronto. Amongst many other sponsors, this year, Scotiabank was the platinum sponsor, the Association of Corporate Counsel was the gold sponsor and Norton Rose LLP was the silver sponsor.

SABA is the GTA’s premier legal organization dedicated to promoting the objectives of South Asian members of the legal profession. Members of SABA include lawyers who identify themselves as South Asian or are of South Asian origin, and lawyers that advocate on issues of relevance to the South Asian community.
