'Breaking Through' Book Celebration at Polley Faith LLP

What: Breaking Through Book Celebration at Polley Faith LLP
Where: The Victory Building, 80 Richmond St. West
, Suite 1300
When: May 21, 2014

Gathered at Polley Faith LLP, lawyers celebrated the success of Breaking Through: Tales from the Top Canadian Women General Counsel, a recent book that tells the stories of 42 women making their mark as general counsel leaders in Canada.

And yet, while the books authors, Kirby Chown and Carrie Mandel, were the main attraction, the elevators stole the show. Opening at random in the reception area, the elevators delivered unsuspecting guests into the middle of the event space where presentations were being made. Received with laughter and good humour, the guests of honour didn’t miss a beat, and the event was all the more memorable for it.

“I was delighted that Polley Faith LLP gave women in the legal community an opportunity to engage with each other and continue important conversations about topics that have been identified and clearly articulated in Kirby and Carrie’s book,” said Heather Crawford, General Counsel at Clairvest Group Inc., whose story is in the book.

“Polley Faith LLP was honored to host this event,” said Jessica Prince and Safina Lakhani of Polley Faith LLP. “We were thrilled to provide a venue for female lawyers at different stages of their careers to network, share their war stories and develop the relationships that will assist them in ‘breaking through’ to the next stages of their careers.”

Guests were not only treated to a deliciously-catered event and a view of the western skyline from the aptly named ‘Victory Building’, they were also provided a copy of Breaking Through, compliments of the host and Carrie Mandel’s firm, Spencer Stuart.
