It all began eight years ago. To feed the appetite law students had for stories relevant to them, we published a small, student-centered insert in our fall issue. It took off, and soon morphed into a stand-alone student magazine.

And today, if you visit PrecedentJD.com, you’ll find the next chapter in that story: a new, sleek website, just for Canadian law students.

We’ve built the whole thing from scratch. Both the design and user experience are state of the art. Our photography has never looked better on a computer (or smartphone) screen. Nor has our student coverage — thanks to a cutting-edge user interface — been easier to explore.

But this is no mere facelift. The site looks great, sure, but we’re as committed as ever to serving up the kinds of stories that will help law students further their careers. New to the website today, for instance, are the stories that made up our latest student magazine (now called PrecedentJD Magazine). We break down what a career on Bay Street is really like and how to make a good impression at a networking event. Also, because everyone gets hungry, we have a recipe for a cheap, delicious sandwich.

Expect more stories like those. After all, we didn’t make a brand new website to let it collect dust. So check back often. We’ll be publishing new stories throughout the year, often tied to what law students are experiencing in the moment. And that starts now: with students smack dab in the middle of the OCI season, we have fresh stories to help them through the process. To get you started, here’s a piece on whether law students can wear pink hair to an interview.

Best of all, PrecedentJD.com is the new home of our Hireback Watch. For almost a decade, we’ve tracked first-year hiring at firms across Toronto. And we won’t stop. But we’re taking this amazing wealth of data to our new site.

To keep readers up to date, we’ve launched new social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. And sign up to our eNewsletter to stay in the loop on all the latest student news.
