Out on Bay Street 2009This year’s Out on Bay Street, a conference for LGBT current and recent law, business and engineering students, includes a law career fair and workshop series. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the legal community and meet other young, out professionals.

Top firms will hold educational and professional seminars specially designed for students, including sessions about interviewing, articling and communication skills, and a discussion about the challenges of being out in the workplace.

Other events at the conference, which runs the weekend of September 25 and 26, 2009, at the Courtyard Marriott in Toronto, include a set of professional development workshops, a multidisciplinary panel on diversity and a gala dinner with keynote address. Firms participating in the career fair and law workshops include FMC, Osler, Blakes, Torys, McMillan, Cassels Brock, BLG, Gowlings and Stikeman Elliott.

The early bird registration fee is $30. Click here to sign up, or to find out more.

Note: The organizers have confirmed that this event does not run afoul of 2nd year OCI recruitment procedures, because it falls under the exception of “education/career fair” and “orientation.” Students attending have been advised not to expect employment opportunities; the event is meant to facilitate networking and education.
